On June 20, 2024, 30 young activists from Tibetan, Uyghur, Taiwanese, and Hong Kong communities gathered in Taiwan to form a cross-movement alliance. Participants included Chemi Lhamo and Tsela Zoksang from Students for a Free Tibet (SFT), Athena Tong, a Hong Kong scholar, Jeffery Ngo from the Hong Kong Democracy Council, and Kavsar Kurbash, a Uyghur youth activist from Switzerland. They discussed strategies to unite for freedom, democracy, and self-determination against authoritarian threats from the Chinese Communist Party. The activists emphasized international advocacy over unreliable Sino-Tibetan peace talks and highlighted the importance of youth participation. They stressed that collective action and international alliances are crucial for countering oppression and promoting human rights.
